Help & FAQ

Everything you need to get started with Polymeti.

Polymeti is one place to chat with, compare, and combine multiple AI models. You bring your own API keys, your conversations stay in your browser, and you stay in control of your data. This page answers the questions people ask most when they start out.

Getting started

  1. Sign in with your Google account.
  2. Add an API key for at least one AI provider (see below). Invited users may already have a key assigned and can skip this step.
  3. Start a chat from the home screen, pick a model, and send your first message.

Do I need my own API key?

Polymeti is “bring your own key” (BYOK): you use your own API keys to access the AI models, and you’re billed directly by each provider for what you use. Add or manage your keys in Settings. If you were invited and given an operator-assigned key, you can use the app without adding one of your own.

Which AI providers can I use?

You can connect models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, and OpenRouter. Each provider processes your requests under its own terms — add a key for any of them and its models become available in the model picker.

The models page lists every model we support, with what each one can do and what it costs.

Where are my conversations stored?

All your chats, messages, attachments, and app settings are stored locally in your own browser (IndexedDB). They are not uploaded to or kept on our servers. That keeps your conversations private to your device — but it also means clearing your browser storage will remove them, so back up anything you want to keep.

Can I back up or sync my chats?

Yes. From Settings → Sync you can connect your own Google Drive and sync your conversations on demand. Your transcripts are stored in your Drive, not on our servers, so you can carry them between devices while keeping ownership of the data.

How are projects and tags used?

  • Projects group related chats together so a topic stays in one place.
  • Tags label chats so you can filter and find them quickly.

How do I track my usage?

The Usage page shows how many tokens your requests have used. We record counts only, never the content of your messages. Actual charges come from the AI provider whose key you used, under that provider’s pricing.

Is my data private?

Your conversations live in your browser, and your messages go directly from your browser to the AI provider you chose — they don’t pass through our servers, and neither do your keys. You can verify this yourself: see How your data flows. For the full details on what we store and why, see our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data or account?

  • Delete a conversation — remove it in the app, or clear your browser storage to remove them all.
  • Delete your usage history — Settings → Account → Privacy.
  • Delete your account — Settings → Account → Danger Zone. This removes your server-side identity and usage data.

A note on your data

The Service may change or be interrupted, and because your conversations are stored in your browser they can be lost — please export anything important. See our Terms of Service for the full picture.
