Do I need my own API key?
Not to start. The Free plan gives you a few models you can use for free, within limits.
On the BYOK plan your own API keys open every model of their providers, with no limit from us, and keep us out of your conversations: your browser talks to the provider directly, so nothing passes through a server of ours.
You switch between Free and BYOK in Settings. On BYOK you pay the provider for exactly what you use, at their price, with no subscription in front of it. Your API key is kept on this device and sent only to the provider it belongs to.
